The address of the venue:

Brunswick Methodist Church

Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 7BJ

The nearest metro station, Monument, is about 100 m from the church. The Central train station, for all trains arriving in Newcastle, is one metro stop (about 2 minutes) or about 10 minutes walk away. There are also many bus stops close to the church for buses coming from various parts and suburbs of Newcastle.

www.traveline.info is an excellent site for planning local journeys. For Newcastle, click on the NE section of the map.

Taxis have set fares for many journeys. You can book a taxi through the website, by email or telephone. Getting a taxi at the airport without a prior booking usually costs considerably more. Ask whether they would be monitoring possible delay with your arrival.

There is a public phone at the airport, it is possible to book a taxi from there, they normally arrive within 15-20 minutes.

In May 2016 the cost of the Eastcoast taxi from the airport to Newcastle (20-30 minutes) was £19.50;
with Blue Line Taxis it was £17.50.

The cost of metro for the same trip for an adult was £3.20 (25 minutes), or £4.60 for a daily ticket.

ACCOMMODATION

The laterooms website is convenient for viewing the available options, though contacting the hotels directly afterwards may lower the expense.

You may consider staying on the sea coast in Whitley Bay, as some of our contestants have done previously. Whitley Bay has a good metro link with the city centre. Some areas of Whitley Bay are popular weekend destinations: if you are after peace and quiet, check with the hotel first.

Good deals (around £35.00 per double room per night) are often available at some Premier Inn and Travelodge hotels nearby, though you might need to walk 10-15 minutes to the nearest metro station or use your own car or a taxi.
